Our library offers many opportunities for student learning throughout the year. Classes have worked with the librarians on a variety questions across subjects such as: Canadian natural resources, residential schools, history of Indigenous peoples of Canada, ADST (Applied Design, Skills and Technologies), and fairy tales.
The library early has also been open some mornings for parents to interact with their children reading, building paper airplanes, magic tricks, and work on lego or puzzles. The library at EFR is used to host many special and celebratory activities also. Valentine’s day has seen students visiting at recess for story time and singing and our Aboriginal Education days see the library host cultural activities.
We continue the 20 plus year tradition of a library club. Every 25 days of reading allows the student to choose a book or toy and then put their name in for weekly, and special occasion prize draws.
The Ecole Frank Ross library is a hub of learning and fun which is a great place to be. See you soon!! :)
The library is available for teachers to bring their classes to work or for special activities such as the 12 week DARE program facilitated by the R.C.M.P. and the French Immersion writing workshop with Mireille Messier. The library has hosted the authors of fatty legs, Christy Jordan-Fenton and Margaret Pokiak-Fenton. Students were totally engrossed in the presentation about residential schools.
