South Peace Distributed Learning (SPDL) is a progressive educational program serving Kindergarten to Grade 12 students within School District 59. Located at the South Peace campus of Dawson Creek Secondary School and Tremblay Elementary School, SPDL supports approximately 450 students annually and offers flexible learning options. Students can register full-time (K-12) or part-time (10-12) to access courses required for graduation in British Columbia.
The program accommodates students with diverse learning needs, including those with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
SPDL programs provide students the flexibility to balance academic work with extracurricular pursuits, such as traveling, competing in sports, or pursuing careers in music, art, or other areas. This flexibility extends to students in remote areas or those with nontraditional lifestyles, offering the opportunity to study outside the traditional school day or even accelerate their learning.
SPDL incorporates Indigenous Principles of Learning, aligned with the district’s Indigenous Education Enhancement Agreement. By working with local Indigenous communities, SPDL aims to improve educational outcomes for Indigenous students and promote cultural understanding.
For students facing time-tabling conflicts in other schools, SPDL offers solutions by providing access to online curriculum for Grades 10 through 12 and adult learners. Through these personalized and flexible learning options, SPDL strives to create a supportive and engaging environment where every student can thrive and achieve their academic goals.
