At the board meeting on September 25, 2024, the Secretary Treasurer provided an update on the Crescent Park Expansion Project.

July 2024 

  • Meeting with engineer to review finalized drawing and specifications
  • Updated drawings to new Principal for review and comment 
  • Updated drawings to the Ministry for approval
  • Ministry review of drawings and comment on classroom size smaller than Ministry design standards

August 2024

  • Instructed engineer to redesign to increase the classroom sizes to meet  Ministry standards 

September 2024

Crescent Park Addition Progress Report to the Board of Education - May 15, 2024

Since last month the following have occurred:

  • Meeting with engineer to review Fee Schedule Proposal.
  • Meeting with engineer to go over tender spec requirements.
  • Meeting with Engineer, Mechanical Engineer and Electrical Engineer at site to review requirements for design and tender specs.

Geo tech testing is scheduled for May 11th pending drill truck availability. Force Engineering will be doing existing building design confirmation May 6 – 10.

A conceptual design based on Crescent Park staff, PAC feedback as well as follow-up discussions between Principal and Facilities staff is shown below.

Crescent Park Elementary School Expansion

MEDIA RELEASE - December 6, 2023

Dawson Creek, BC – The Board of Education of School District No. 59 (Peace River South) received approval from the Ministry of Education and Child Care for a major capital project that supports a five-classroom expansion for Crescent Park Elementary School.

The Ministry has awarded the expansion as part of a pilot project that will see prefabricated additions to accommodate students in classrooms faster. The Ministry of Education and Child Care announced they will be adding 104 new classrooms in eight school districts utilizing sustainable and energy-efficient designs. The Ministry’s investment in Crescent Park Elementary totals $7.5 million.

Erase Bullying

Erase is all about building safe and caring school communities. This includes empowering students, parents, educators and the community partners who support them to get help with challenges, report concerns to schools, and learn about complex issues facing students.
